Cleaning With Essential Oils

We love the way our cleaners clean, but we’re also obsessed with the way that they smell. And although we use essential oils purely for your sensory enjoyment, on their own these greasy little guys actually make great cleaners!

It’s common knowledge that essential oils are great for aroma therapy and holistic healing, but did you know that they can even polish wood and clean mirrors? Here’s a quick list of which essential oils are the best helper for each of your household chores:

Essential Oil Cleaning Hack Quickies

Wood Polish

Polish any wood surface for lasting shine and great scent with one simply ingredient. Apply 3-4 drops of Organic Lemon Essential Oil or Organic White Fir Essential Oil to a soft cloth. Using polishing cloth apply to wood surface, rubbing in circular motions until evenly absorbed.

Mirror Cleaner

For a quick non-toxic mirror cleaner, combine 1-2 drops of any Disinfecting Oil of your choice (we recommend Organic Peppermint Essential Oil) and 1 tsp vinegar in empty spray bottle, then fill remainder of bottle with water. Gum/Grease in Laundry

Using an oil to tackle grease on your laundry? Sounds counterintuitive, but give it a try! Apply a few drops of Organic Lemon Essential Oil directly onto laundry stains, let sit for 5-10 minutes, then just throw it in the wash!

Mold/Mildew

Spritz and scrub away tough grime in your shower and other surfaces. Combine 5 drops of Organic Lemon Essential Oil and 5 drops of Organic White Fir Essential Oil, plus 2 oz water in an empty spray bottle.

Paint Fumes

Got a big craft project or a room that needs a facelift, but don’t enjoy the noxious odors paint leaves behind? Simply add 15ml of Organic Lemon or Lime Essential Oil per one gallon of paint and mix before applying.

Carpet Cleaning

Stains stink. Here’s a great way to get rid of them for good without strong chemicals. Add 20 to 50 drops of Organic Melaleuca Essential Oil and 20-50 of Organic Lemon Essential Oil to 1 cup of baking soda. Stir until combined. Apply mixture with damp rag or sponge to carpet stain. Scrub until thoroughly saturated and let sit for 15 min. Once dry vacuum treated area, and voila— no more stain!
