At GreenShield Organic, we always talk about going green...and this weekend we mean it quite literally. St. Patrick's Day is on Sunday, March 17th and it's quite possibly my most favorite holiday of the year! There's something about dressing green from head to toe, the sounds of bagpipes played everywhere you go and the Irish food we serve that really gets me excited!
As I was hunting for ideas to do with the family this St. Patrick's Day, I found some great St. Patrick's Day ideas that are fun for the whole family, (and healthy too)! So put that trip to McDonald's for a shamrock shake on the back burner this weekend, and try something fun, organic and healthy using our St. Patty's Day inspiration board below...
For a fun snack for the kids to make, try a veggie rainbow dip made from fresh organic guacamole, pepper rings for the rainbow colors and cauliflower florets for the clouds. Instead of chips, use a baked pita bread, baked cracker or the rainbow veggies to eat the dip! If you're serving up a salad this St. Patrick's Day, add an adorable shamrock garnish by using a shamrock cookie cutter on spinach wraps and toast them lightly in your oven with a sprinkle of sea salt. Homemade spinach tortilla chips? Yes, please!
Another great one for the kids, veggie leprechaun hats, made from four easy ingredients you likely already have in your home: cucumbers, cheese, yellow peppers and honey! Simply cut your cucumbers, (seedless works best), and add a strip of string cheese and a yellow pepper, using the honey for glue! Finally we have a delectable sweet (veggie) treat, spinach cupcakes! They're perfectly green, coinciding with the lovely Irish holiday, and taste nothing like spinach, so everyone will enjoy them, (we won't tell if you don't)!
