We have a deal in my house...if my husband will unload the dishwasher, I will load it. This is because he is absolutely the worst dishwasher loader on the planet, (or may be he learned the trick that the worse he is at something, the less I'll ask him to do it)! In all seriousness, I think my dish washing skills came from my step father, as I would always claim that I couldn't fit all of the dishes in the dishwasher as a child and he always had the magic touch to somehow get everything to fit, (when I thought I didn't have one ounce of space left).
He always taught me the best way to load a dishwasher to maximize space, efficiency, energy and most of all, make sure your result is CLEAN dishes! Occasionally now I will have a load of dishes that just don't appear to look or smell that clean...and it's typically when we buy a different time of dishwasher detergent when grocery shopping, or I quick-load and improperly load the dishwasher.
Below are some great tips on making sure your dishes sparkle when finished, and they'll maximize how many dishes you can fit in a load!
-Don't feel like you have to completely rinse each dish before putting it into the dishwasher. Of course you'll want to try to remove any difficult stains before washing, however GreenShield Organic’s Squeez Automatic Dishwasher Liquid Detergent will easily remove stuck-on food.
-Load your plates short to tall, with the tallest plates and platters on the outside of the dishwasher. This allows the shortest dishes to clean first, and not contaminate your taller plates.
-Make sure you do not cover or block the water source from reaching your dishes. This is most commonly done with saucepans in the bottom of your dishwasher.
-If it's too big - hand wash it! Don't waste space and energy by filling your dishwasher with four large items.
-When putting your silverware inside the basket, place it end-up, (but just be careful loading and unloading)! This will allow your food particles to be properly removed when cleaning.
-When your dishwasher is on the dry cycle, stop it a bit early and let your dishes air dry. This will save energy and allow you to unload quicker.
Over the years I have found that liquid detergents work best in an automatic dishwasher. Our Squeez Automatic Dishwasher Liquid is an amazing family-friendly option when dish washing. What you ideally want is something that not only breaks down any germs, grime, grease and food left on your dishes but also breaks down once the job is finished. Squeez dishwasher liquid is biodegradable, and will break down into water and minerals that are safe for the environment, unlike alternatives which pollute and contaminate our water.
With the fresh smell of lemongrass, you can do a chemical-free dish wash which is non-toxic, hypo-allergenic, non-volatile and removes grease and grime. There's not too many people out there that can say they're saving the planet (and their family) by doing the dishes...GreenShield Organic's Dishwasher Liquid allows you to do just that - and you can't get much better than that!
