Here are 5 Natural Pet Care Tips for Dogs to help you take care of fido and have a cleaner, more conscious home:
Non-Toxic Dog Bowl and Toy Cleaners
DIY Best-Friend’s Baking Soda Scrub
Baking Soda, aka sodium bicarbonate, is a natural odor absorber and is mildly abrasive, which makes it great for scrubbing away unwanted residue and deodorizing Fido’s favorite toys.
- Mix equal parts organic baking soda, warm water and salt in a medium bowl.
- Apply to dirty pet bowls or toys with a sponge or scrubbing brush until clean.
- Rinse thoroughly and let dry before use
Short on time? Try these two products for quicker cleanup.
For laundry-safe dog toys that are larger or need a deeper cleaning, try throwing them into the wash with our USDA Certified Organic Free and Clear Laundry Detergent. No heavy odors will deter your pup from enjoying his toys, and you’ll rest easy knowing he won’t be ingesting any toxic chemicals.
Baby-friendly liquid dish soaps are also an ideal option for cleaning dog toys, bowls, and other pet items safely and naturally. Our Baby Liquid Dish Soap is also formulated with non-toxic ingredients, leaving behind no harmful residues. After all— dogs are our babies too!
Safe & Organic Carpet and Floor Cleaners
DIY Floor Fighter for Fido
Vinegar is a natural cleaning agent. With anti-microbial properties, this acidic solution can be diluted with water to safely and effectively clean sealed hardwood, tile and other non-carpeted surfaces. Dogs spend a lot of time on or near the floor— sleeping, eating, chewing, or licking— so, it’s important to reduce the number of harsh chemicals they come into direct contact with.
For an easy DIY floor spray, mix 1 part organic white vinegar with 16 parts water in a spray bottle or bucket for mopping. For build-on surface grim, try sprinkling baking soda over the soiled area and scrubbing with a mop or sponge and then wiping away with warm soapy water.
Need a faster and easier solution? There’s something organic for that.
Greenshield Organic Pet Stain & Odor Remover has been formulated and tested to eliminate pesky ground-in odors and carpet stains with non-toxic ingredients, including dead sea salt, baking soda, and organic essential oil fragrances— which in some cases have also been shown to naturally deter pets from repeat offenses.

Every dog deserves a good old fashion scrub to eliminate dirt build-up or an afternoon in the mud. However, natural oils found in a dog's fur help protect their skin from irritation and keep their coat looking shiny and healthy.

Flea & Tick Deterrent Enhancers
DIY Bandana Bug Banisher
A wonderful benefit of lavender essential oil other than its soothing properties, is its ability to repel certain insects. To help repel fleas and ticks and reduce reliance on harmful chemicals and pesticides, try this natural DIY collar at home:
- First, dilute 3-5 drops of lavender (or cedar) essential oil with 1-3 tablespoons of water.
- Apply 5-10 drops of the mixture onto your dog’s collar or a bandana once a week to repel those pesky flea and ticks.

You may also apply directly onto the skin*. Simply combine 1-2 drops of essential oil with 1 tbsp of olive oil and apply to the base of the tail.
*Keep in mind a dog's sense of smell is about 1,000 times keener than that of their two-legged companions. We recommend testing their reaction to lavender and other essential oil fragrances prior to use to assess their acceptance of the scent and check for any potential allergies.
Another option so natural, they can eat it.
