It’s no secret that we use organic essential oils in our products. Last week we eased your mind about using our essential oil-enhanced products around your feline friends, and this week we’re taking some time to tell you why we use these wonderful oils. These oils make our products smell delightful, but that’s not the only reason we use them!

Lemon oil - This oil has been shown to have many cleaning properties including disinfectant powers and bactericidal effects. It has also shown both astringent and antiviral capabilities as well. Aside from these powerful cleaning properties, lemon oil can also affect your general health and mood. The use of lemon around your home can increase your concentration, uplift your mood, and activate your body and mind. A perfect restorative combination for our All-Purpose Cleaner!

Lemongrass oil - Because of the bright citrus scent of this oil, it shares many similar health and cleaning benefits with lemon oil. Like lemon oil, it is also a powerful bactericidal with antimicrobial properties. It’s stimulating scent makes it a natural antidepressant, purifying your mind. This healthy fragrance will fill your home as you clean your dishes with our Automatic Dishwasher Gel.

Bergamot oil - Bergamot oil makes a strong addition to our Bathroom Cleaner due to it’s disinfectant properties. We pair it with Mint oil, further enhancing its cleaning properties (see below). Bergamot is also an antidepressant, enhancing your mood with its bright scent which is exactly what you want when you’re stuck inside cleaning your bathroom!

Mint oil - Because of the wonderful healing and cleaning properties of peppermint oil, we use it in multiple products. Our Glass Cleaner, Surface Wipes, and Bathroom Cleaner all harness the restorative properties of this oil. Peppermint is a known astringent, but it’s health properties far exceed it’s cleaning benefits. The scent of mint is invigorating and energizing, and it eases your breathing. It is also great for brain and memory health. It has even been shown to improve memory and information recall. Using this scent in every room of your home and harnessing its power is easy with the variety of cleaners we’ve designed.

Orange oil - Like the bright citrus notes of lemon oil, orange oil is also an uplifting fragrance. It has strong antidepressant qualities and reduces emotional and nervous disturbances. These calming qualities are especially important when you are using our Pet Stain and Odor Remover to clean up Fido’s indoor accidents or when using our Carpet Spot Cleaner when little Johnny or Janie spills juice on the new carpet!

Lavender oil - Lavender oil is probably the most widely used essential oil available. You can find it in a variety of home products as well as in candles and fragrances. This popularity is for good reason. Lavender is celebrated for its calming and relaxing power, but it also has disinfectant properties. And that’s why we use it in our Lavender Laundry Detergent, one of most popular products! But don’t worry if you aren’t interested in the power of lavender oil and prefer your laundry detergent to be free of all fragrance. We still have our Free & Clear Laundry Detergent as well as our Baby Laundry Detergent, both of which have no essential oils or fragrance.
The next time you pick up a household cleaner that uses essential oils, think about the health and cleaning properties that the oil adds to the cleaner. Is it enhancing your home and life in the right ways?
