Whenever using a new cleaning product in your home, always test a small, inconspicuous area to ensure colorfastness and resistance to dulling.

No.
WHAT IS GLYCERIN?
A derivative of plant fat.
ARE YOUR PRODUCTS TESTED ON ANIMALS?
No.
ARE YOUR PRODUCTS GLUTEN FREE? WHAT IS YOUR VINEGAR SOURCE?
Acetic Acid or just plain vinegar is distilled, and, therefore, is gluten-free. Acetic Acid made in the USA is NOT made from wheat, but instead is made from corn, potatoes, wood and sugar cane. greenshield organic™ utilizes Acetic Acid distilled from sugar cane. Even though sugar cane is a grass plant and therefore a distant relative to the gluten grains wheat, barley and rye, it does not contain the gluten protein.

Spray Cleaners FAQs

DOES YOUR GLASS CLEANER CONTAIN AMMONIA?
No.
CAN I USE THE ALL PURPOSE/KITCHEN/BATHROOM CLEANER ON [FILL IN THE BLANK] SURFACE?
We recommend our product for all hard surfaces except for concrete, as it can discolor concrete surfaces (such as garage floors). If you are hesitant about spraying haphazardly, you can test a small, inconspicuous spot to see results of the cleaner.
Granite Countertops – Yes, as long as the countertop is properly sealed with polyurethane. Use on natural stone can cause etching. (Note: Some people may have a nano-seal or polymer seal on their granite counters. Our cleaners work fine on this type of seal. Always test a small, inconspicuous area for any dulling as not all seals are the same.)
Travertine – Yes, as long as the countertop is properly sealed with polyurethane. Use on natural stone can cause etching.
Marble – It can be used on marble that is sealed. If it is unsealed, it can cause etching and discoloration
Hardwood Floors – Yes, as long as it is sealed. Product should not be used on unsealed, stained wood as it can bring up the stain. Recommended use is spot cleaning rather than all over mopping.
Stainless Steel – Yes.
Metal Trim in a Shower – Yes.
Self-Cleaning Oven – Not recommended. Most manufacturers don’t recommend using cleaning products on self-cleaning ovens. It can actually cause damage to the material.
Grout – It really depends on the mixture of grout. A good quality grout would do just fine with our cleaners. Inexpensive grout can cause a little bit of etching over time. Best advice would be to use it by spraying on and wiping off immediately (don’t let the product set).
Acrylic – Yes.
Ceramic – Yes.
Laptops – Yes. We do not recommend using our product on computer screens, but you can use on the hard plastic parts of the computer (case, keyboard, etc.). Be careful when cleaning around the ports and other circuit connections.
Fiberglass Showers – Yes.
Porcelain Tubs and Toilets - Yes.
Corian – Yes - do not allow the cleaner to dry on the surface. Spray and wipe thoroughly to complete dry.
I AM TRYING TO CLEAN A GRIMY SURFACE THAT HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED IN A WHILE. HOW COME YOUR CLEANER DOES NOT WORK WELL ON THIS SURFACE?
Our products are meant for everyday household use. You can attempt to use our product by saturating the surface, letting it sit a couple of minutes, then wiping off. Elbow grease or scraping with a plastic spatula may be in order to remove all dried-on grime. If you have a surface that is difficult to clean due to years to neglect, you may need an industrial type of cleaner to break through the grime.
CAN I USE YOUR GLASS CLEANER ON [FILL IN THE BLANK] SURFACE?
Plastic windows – Yes.
Tinted windows – We have tested our product on some window tints, and it has worked fine. However, without knowing what kind of tint your window has, we cannot guarantee the efficacy of the cleaner as it was formulated for use on glass windows. You could potentially check with the tint manufacturer to see what they recommend for cleaning. Additionally, you should not use any cleaner on a hot window that has a tinted film. You should only apply on cool windows and wipe off immediately. The product should work fine on the factory-grade tint, but the above rule still applies for cleaning cool windows as well as testing small, inconspicuous areas.
HOW CAN I SAFELY REMOVE MOLD FROM MY SURFACES USING YOUR PRODUCT?
Mold in showers is not usually airborne as the water coats the mold and weighs it down.  If the mold is dried out and could potentially be dusty, thoroughly saturate the mold with our product and walk away.  Repeat this process 3-4 times before wiping the mold off the surface.  Soaking the mold and leaving it gives our active ingredient a chance to begin killing the layers of mold.
DOES YOUR PRODUCT WORK AS A MOLD-CONTROL SUBSTANCE?
Our product is not meant for long term mold control.  It will aid in keeping mold away for short periods of time.  If you are looking to paint an area where you have mold growth, we recommend you use an anti-mold agent that you can put in the paint. This type of substance can be found at local paint and home improvement stores.

CAN I USE THE ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER ON MY POPCORN MACHINE?

Yes, but you should rinse the metal parts after they’ve been cleaned.  While it’s unlikely, if any citric acid is remaining on the metal surfaces, it will turn to sugar once it is heated. Rinsing after cleaning should make sure the remaining citric acid is washed away.

CAN I USE THE ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER IN A PRESSURE WASHER?

It can be, but the dilution rate makes the additive of our cleaner very small.

CAN I USE THE CARPET/SPOT CLEANER ON A [FILL IN THE BLANK] SURFACE?
Limestone Floors - Yes if the limestone is sealed. If natural limestone without sealant, do not use.

Laundry Detergent FAQs

THERE ARE NO SUDS IN MY WASHING MACHINE, AND THE DETERGENT DOESN'T SEEM THICK LIKE CONVENTIONAL DETERGENTS. ARE MY CLOTHES REALLY GETTING CLEANED?
Our detergent is a low-sudsing formula and in hard water, is not very sudsy. Suds and viscosity do not affect the efficacy of the detergent. Suds can also leave residue on clothing as well as contribute to the breakdown of the washing machine.
I purchased your 200oz. Laundry Detergent from Costco, but I'm having a little trouble measuring with the cap. We've put together a nice diagram to help!

WE HAVE A NUT ALLERGY IN OUR HOUSEHOLD. CAN I STILL USE YOUR LAUNDRY DETERGENT?
Yes, for 2 reasons. First, coconut is not a true nut but is actually a fruit. Allergic reactions to coconut are extremely rare and are usually related to ingestion and not contact. Second, although we use coconut oil in our laundry detergent, the oil is saponified, so the actual oil no longer remains in solution.
CAN YOUR DETERGENT BE USED ON/IN...
Generally, if the article of clothing you need to clean is safe for use in a standard washing machine with standard detergents, then it is fine for use with our detergents.
To hand wash Synthetic Wigs? No. Wigs are treated with a certain chemical to help hold the style of the wig. Our product can actually cause the wig to relax and not hold its style.
Flokati Wool – Our detergent can wash this material, it is suggested to put the cycle on delicate and only use half of the suggested detergent amount. Our mild soap is perfect for this material being “natural.”
Waterproof materials - Yes. Our detergent is safe to use on waterproof materials. Please follow the washing instructions on the garment.
LAUNDRY TIP: Using a tablespoon of table salt or sea salt will help stabilize colors.
IS THIS DETERGENT SAFE FOR GREY WATER?
Greywater is wastewater generated from domestic activities such as laundry, dish washing, and bathing, which can be recycled on-site for uses such as landscape irrigation and constructed wetlands. Greywater differs from water from the toilets which is designated sewage or blackwater to indicate it contains human wastes.
When Greywater is used for irrigation, you have to consider what contaminants are present from both the laundry detergent and the fabrics being washed. greenshield organic™ laundry detergents primarily contain USDA Certified components and are therefore biodegradable by nature. The primary component that needs to considered is the salt. High levels of salt can be detrimental to plants. Fortunately, when used as directed at 1 to 2 ounces per load, the salt content from the greenshield organic™ detergents will not exceed 0.018 grams for HE Washers and 0.005 grams for standard washers. This salt content is well within potable levels. Therefore, the laundry detergents are compatible with Greywater systems.
DOES YOUR DETERGENT CONTAIN WATER SOFTENERS?
Our laundry detergent contains sea salt, which acts as a natural water softener.
WILL YOUR DETERGENT CAUSE A BUILD-UP OF INGREDIENTS ON THE FABRIC THAT WILL CAUSE ISSUES WITH MY GARMENTS LATER?
No. Our detergent is based heavily on salts that are soluble in water and do not enter into the fiber of the clothing like other synthetic chemicals will.
SINCE YOUR DETERGENT DOES NOT CONTAIN "OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS," DOES THAT MEAN MY DARK COLORS WILL FADE?
No. The lack of optical brighteners will help keep your dark colors from fading.
